In 2016, Hordle CE (VA) Primary School was designated a National Support School with our Headteacher, Fiona Adams, as a National Leader of Education.  This was awarded by the National College of Teaching and Leadership in recognition of the work that Hordle Primary does to assist other schools and in recognition of it’s outstanding status.

We are committed to providing high quality professional development and colleague coaching and mentoring for schools who wish access the expertise that we have within our staff.  Here is a list of some of the areas that we can offer support:

  • As an NLE, Fiona Adams works in other schools to increase their capacity for school improvement. She  is a mentor for new headteachers and does extensive Leadership Training both for the Local Authority and for Winchester University. She is also a Pupil Premium Reviewer carrying out PP reviews in schools.
  • Lou Trim, our Deputy Headteacher, specialises in curriculum and subject leadership development and provides regular coaching. She is a Specialist Leader in Education for English and supports schools and ITT providers with specialist training. She is also responsible for the school based aspects of the Hampshire NQT programme.
  • Sheila Slattery is a Specialist Leader in Education for Business Management and has supported numerous schools with finance, health and safety and safeguarding matters. She has also supported many schools in setting up their own nurseries on site.
  • Sally Fletcher-Jones, a Specialist Leader in Education for Maths is a specialist in Mathematics with particular expertise in Singaporean and CPA approaches. She has supported schools and have run a wide range of staff training, including for ITT providers..

If you are looking for in-school support, be it just for a morning or for several months, please do contact us and we can work with you to create a package that is bespoke and affordable.  If you are a school that is currently graded as ‘Requires Improvement’ or ‘Inadequate’ then we might be able to apply for a grant to fund your support.

COURSE FEEDBACK

Feedback from courses we have run

  • Really good to show the links for EYFS to UJ.
  • Interesting to see the links with bar model and algebra for Y3/4 pupils.
  • Positive links even though people were not a fan of the bar.
  • Useful to be able to practise bar model and have questions to take away.
  • Things are broken down well and lots of time to discuss ideas.
  • English reading was really handy ad gave us lots to think about
  • Really positive learning environment for RQT courses. All speakers have been engaging and knowledgeable.
  • Useful to see how to use algebra within Y3 alongside bar modelling
  • Really helpful to have time to reflect and further unpick methods, concepts and ideas – now that was have been teaching  a year. The reflection time is important.
  • Courses have been really rather grand. Thank you. It is nice having small groups so we can talk in more detail about things and go off on tangents / tailor it more. Looking forward to the next ones. Thank you.
  • It was really useful to see (confirm) how the bar can be used to visualise word problems.
  • The sessions have been really helpful to share practice with other RQTs and gain new ideas to take back. The session leaders have been really clear and informative. Great to have a little bit of time away from my ‘bubble’ of my own classroom and school to reflect.
