Scoot to School 2024
Thank you to all the children and families who took part in 'Scoot to School' last week. We loved seeing all your different modes of active transport. The children also loved being greeted by Basil Bird and wore their participation stickers proudly!
Thank you to all those who have already sent in pictures of you travelling to school on your chosen mode of transport. If you haven't yet sent in your picture, it's not too late to add to our 'Scoot to School' scrapbook. Please send any photos of you scooting, riding or even cruising to school to Mrs James by emailing jessie.james@hordleprimary.co.uk.
Thank you.

Meet the Teacher
We are pleased to announce that we will once again be inviting parents into school to meet their child’s new class teacher and members of the phase team.
There will be a presentation from the team including topics for the coming year, changes in routine and homework. There will also be an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
Please find the dates and times of the parent meetings below:
Key Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2) - Tuesday 16th July at 2.45pm
Lower Juniors (Years 3 & 4) - Tuesday 9th July at 2.45pm
Upper Juniors (Years 5 & 6) - Friday 19th July at 2:45pm
A presentation will be sent out by email following the meetings which will cover all of the points discussed, for any parents unable to attend.
We will be holding our 'Teacher Transition Morning' on Wednesday 3rd July, which will be a chance for your child to spend the morning with their new teacher and class team, in readiness for September. This date is significantly earlier than last year to ensure transition can be as smooth as possible. The teachers have already begun to plan some fun activities for their new classes and are very much looking forward to meeting the children then.
Children are welcome/encouraged to bring a bible verse, which may be chosen as the class bible verse.

Hot Weather Guidance
Due to the current and expected hot weather, please may we ask parents/guardians to ensure the following:
- Your child is sent to school with a named sun hat
- Sunscreen is applied to children before school (application of a 'Once' type cream provides your child with adequate protection throughout the day)
- Your child comes to school with a water bottle (named) - it is also important that children remain hydrated throughout the day, so if your child is having a packed lunch, please make sure you enclose a drink bottle in their lunchbox, as well as giving them one for the classroom
- For children who are having a packed lunch, please pop in an ice pack to keep their lunch cool
- As children are likely to remove their jumpers more frequently, please ensure all uniform is clearly named
|
|
Activity Passports
Completed Activity Passports for this academic year (for Year R - Year 5) can be returned to the school office before the summer holidays or at the beginning of Autumn term, should you wish to complete any outstanding activities over the summer holidays.
For Year 6 children, please can we ask that the activity passports are completed and returned to the front office by Friday 5th July.
We hope you have all enjoyed ticking off your tasks!
|
|
Year 6 Leavers - Scopay Balances
Please can we request that Year 6 parents check Scopay balances and ensure that any outstanding balances are cleared promptly. We will shortly be starting to process our leavers in readiness for the end of term, at which point Scopay accounts will close.
Please also check if you have a surplus balance (e.g. dinners) and use these funds over the coming weeks.
Thank you in advance
|
|
School Uniform
We are still having a high volume of lost property handed in, most of which is unnamed.
Please can we ask for ALL uniform to be fully named.
Anything remaining at the end of term will be donated to charity.
Please check for missing items.
|
|
Allergen Reminder
Due to some severe allergies within school, please remember that we are a nut and sesame free school.
This includes desserts such as Battenburg and Bakewell, hummus and many cereal bars.
We also wish to highlight that it has been noticed that Tesco own brand Pesto has a new recipe which now contains cashew nuts, therefore cannot be added to meals for children's lunches.
We urge parents to please check ingredients before adding to your child’s packed lunch.

|
|
|
|
|
|
|
We would like to remind parents/guardians of the term dates for the next couple of months.
Parents are strongly advised by the Government and Local Authority to avoid taking children out of school in term time because of the disruption it causes to their education.
Please refer to 3rd May 2024 Newsletter for further attendance guidance.
