SEND
At Hordle CE (VA) Primary School, we strongly believe that every child matters. Staff work very hard to help all children make good progress with their learning and to achieve their full potential, irrespective of their starting points.
Our skilled teachers and Learning Support Assistants aim to meet the needs of all children in the classroom through Quality First Teaching. Carefully designed lessons offer appropriate levels of challenge for all learners, are focussed on learning objectives and make use of a range of teaching and learning styles.
Children are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and outcomes, and are encouraged to develop a high level of self-esteem, resilience and motivation for learning.
There are, of course, times when children require more targeted support. We aim to identify additional needs and provide necessary support as early as possible so that children’s needs are quickly met with the correct support and provision.
We work closely with parents and other agencies such as Speech and Language Therapy Services and Educational Psychologists and we attend regular, relevant training.
Children with identified needs, requiring support that is additional to and significantly different from their peers, are placed on the special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) register.
The SEND coordinator for our school is Ms Mandy Raybone.
