Changes to Waste Collection at School - Important Update for Parents
Following changes in legislation on waste disposal, schools are now required to separate food waste in addition to recycling, from general waste.
With effect from Monday 31st March, children will be required to use separate recycling and food waste bins from general waste.
What this means for your child
Learning the new rules
Children will attend an assembly on food waste and will be reminded how they can identify recyclable items from general waste - this is something they are already actively encouraged to do. However, the rules on food waste will be new to our children. We will stress the importance of careful recycling and waste separation to reduce our environmental impact.
Please be aware that schools will be fined for incorrect waste disposal so it's very important that we are all adhering to the new rules.

Packed Lunches
As per current procedures, all children will be required to bring home any food waste and packaging from packed lunches, in their lunchboxes. Please note that children will be asked not to dispose of packed lunch waste in school as food bins are for school waste only.
These rules will soon come in to effect in homes too, so this is a good opportunity to start training for this!
Thank you for your support to ensure all children are following these new rules from Monday. We know our children and families will welcome this opportunity to reduce our environmental impact, as much as we do.

Polite Reminder - Bikes/Scooters/Skateboards on School Grounds
Please can we kindly remind families that any bikes, scooters, skateboards or any other form of similar transport is not used/ridden on the school site.
All forms of transport should be dismounted before entering on to the school site and then walked up to the available bike storage (located at the Longfield Road/Team Nest), where they are to be stored neatly and safely or parents to take back home with them.
Thank you for keeping our school site safe, especially at school drop off and pick up.
